Fat is nothing more than stored calories in your body. Its a number. Take your body fat percentage, multiply it by your body weight, then again by 3500. That will give you just how much stored energy you have on your body. That is how you must envision fat,
not as some mysterious, evil substance, but rather, as a stored amount of calories for your body to use in case of famine.
Given this information [i.e. a pound of fat has 3500 calories] you can use this to calculate just how much of a calorie deficit you must create in order to lose your extra fat. Its a mathematical equation, and quite an easy one. If you create a 500 calorie deficit every day for a week, you'll lose one pound of fat. It really is that simple on paper.
However, not many of us have a clue of how many calories we're allowed to eat day to day. Throughout my 5 years as a personal trainer, I have heard some wild comments about calories from my clients. One in particular, was shocked to know that orange juice has calories, and quite a lot at that. Ignorance is no longer an option in this information laden world of the internet. Takes all but 5 seconds to google "calories in a steak burrito", yet, very few of us do so. That "healthy" fruit shake from that smoothie shop can run you over 700 calories. And so on.

You will be given a number of calories you are allowed to eat a day. Given your personal information, we will calculate the perfect amount you need, within your lifestyle, for your goals. This is generally a life changing moment for my clients. They finally have a quantifiable number that they know, if they do not pass, and are consistent, they will lose fat.
Remember, fat is stored energy, which can be displayed as a real number. All you have to do is make sure you're under your calorie count, every day.
It really is THAT easy.
Now, why do we include a protein minimum as well as a calorie maximum? Simply put, most of the population doesn't consume enough of it. It is the most vital macro nutrient for those looking to lose fat and build lean muscle. You will be given a daily protein minimum that, like the calorie maximum, you will have to hit every day. To keep it simple, protein fills you up, a lot, and it is a difficult macro nutrient to turn into fat after digested. By keeping your protein high in every meal, you will insure that less of what you eat is stored as fat, and that more of it will go into building muscle and other vital tissue. This is called keeping it Anabolic. There have been NO recent scientific study proving a "protein digestion limit" for humans. This is quite obvious, why else would massive companies like Muscle Milk sell pre-made shakes with 40 or 50g of protein? Lions basically eat their fill of meat [nearly pure protein] in one sitting when they make a kill. Must say, they look just fine to us. That being said, please don't only eat protein, it isn't dangerous, but your body can turn it into fat if you go over your calorie limit. And generally speaking, that's just a horrible way to live. As long as you stay under the calorie maximum, and over the protein minimum, we guarantee you that you will lose fat, quickly. Yes, you can eat your favorite foods, pizza included, and still lose fat. As long as you don't pass that daily calorie maximum, and stay over your daily protein minimum, go ahead and enjoy your culinary life. You don't have to cut carbs, fats, or even, GASP, sugar. We don't, and neither have the 1000s of people this system has helped get the bodies of their dreams.
Lets move on to some other key elements of the Fat Loss: Made Easy guide. Water and walking. Water is the single most important substance on earth. Every organism ever discovered by human kind needs water, in one form or another. We can't stress this enough, there are creatures in the wild that risk life and limb for even a sip of this miracle substance. Yet here, as a society, we have captured and even bottled it. Water begins the fat loss process. It begins the muscle building process. It is necessary in almost every body function we conduct throughout the day.

We didn't evolve to run, or exert ourselves to the maximum every day. Observe the animal kingdom and tell us one mammal that runs all day without dying of exhaustion. We evolved to walk, being bi pedal makes us human, especially walking long distances. We are the only ape who uses this method as its sole means of self locomotion. Even as little as 500 years ago, all we did was walk. Now a days, technology in the form of fast locomotion, has robbed us of what essentially made us who and what we are.
It has been stated by NEARLY EVERY DOCTOR, NUTRITIONIST, AND SCIENTIST in the past decade; if you could somehow encapsulate walking in a pill form for fat loss or just general well being and health, it would be the most successful drug of all time.
Until that happens, however, walking is your best bet.
You will be given a minimal amount of time you must walk a day along with the diet. Again, this is non negotiable. This not only will help you feel fantastic, but will help you create a larger calorie deficit, only speeding up your results. After a week, we promise that you will begin craving, and looking forward to these walks. It is what makes us human.

Now, time for the controversy. Intermittent fasting.
The science is in, its been proven, this isn't a fad. It goes against everything you've heard, we get it, but let us explain.
When you eat any calorie, your body will pump insulin into your blood stream. Insulin is a body hormone whose job is to shut down the fat burning process of your body, instead favoring using the calories you just consumed for energy. So, if you eat every couple of hours, including snacks, from the time you wake up, how do you plan on getting your body to use that pesky stored energy [fat]?
Simply put, you can't, your insulin will always be high, thus turning off your stored fat burning. Your insulin must be at or next to 0 to burn fat. That's science. Its been proven.
You ask, "but Bro Brody at my gym says he eats 10 meals a day, and he looks wonderful". Sure, we also can insure you that not only is he in a calorie deficit, but that he also sleeps every day. Your body can basically burn through most meals in less than 8 hours, being, if you eat dinner 2 hours before sleeping, and get a solid 8 hours of sleep, you will technically have fasted for a minimum of two hours. It is here where Bro Brody burns his fat, from the collective calorie deficit during his day's actives and food intake.
Ever gave the word breakfast some thought? It literally is break - fast. As in breaking your small fast. We will ask you to increase this fast, slightly, and in a way you will barely feel.
When you are in a fasted state, you are forcing your body to use the stored energy that you have all over you, your fat, to power your metabolism and movements. This is perfectly solid logic, if there is nothing in your stomach to digest and obtain calories to use, your body will have to get its energy from somewhere. It just so happens that nature gave us a rather convenient back up system of powering ourselves during these times of famine, our own stored body fat!
Think of yourself as if you were a hybrid car. You charge it over night [give it food] and then drive away. During your drive, you are initially burning through the electricity [food], and when it runs out, the secondary system, the gas powered motor kicks in [fat]. The further you go without recharging [eating], the more gas [fat] you will need to burn to continue moving.
To further bring this point home, there are two kind of large animals, grazers and predators. Those who eat all day, and for the most part, move little (i.e. elephants, cows, rhinos, hippos, whales) are grazers. Then, there are the predators (lions, sharks, alligators, snakes) who eat maybe once or twice a week, and move a lot [hunts]. We know which group we would rather look like. How about you?
