I've been training people in one form or discipline for over a decade. Starting as a soccer goalie and strength coach, I fell in love with Kinesiology. Like many, I was ignorant on what it took to lose fat, but excelled at the training part. All my clients saw great progress in strength, speed, and agility, but never with the fat loss. Adding muscle to a body isn't the same thing as subtracting fat. The processes behind the two are almost completely separate. You can't out train a calorie surplus. No matter how intense your cross fit or spinning class is.
During my own fitness journey, I had many ups and downs. I had the training down pact, learning from the body builders at my gym, and scouring article after article, magazine after magazine for information. I tested countless routines on myself, often with disappointing results. I built plenty of muscle and power, even got up to a 550 pound dead lift, but was no thinner for it. Then came my judgement day. I cracked two vertebrae attempting a 600 pound dead lift.
This changed everything.
The consequence of my action was a bad case of sciatica, along with numbness down the entire right side of my body. Robbed of much of my ability to walk, I gained a scary amount of weight, eventually peaking at 274 lbs. The turning point came when a friend I hadn't seen in a long while called me out on being obese. Her comments pierced through me like a dagger. I was crushed.
So, I decided to change the mess that I had put myself in. Instead of bodybuilding, muscle building, power building, I would become an expert at fat loss. Whats the point of all this power and muscle, just for me to take my shirt off and have people believing that I survived purely on doughnuts?
Study was needed, and study I did. To be honest, i don't believe I saw the sun for 2 months as I read and digested everything around me on the subject. Then. quite literally, I began applying what I learned.
What came next, was Magical
60 pounds in 90 days.
Science, and only science.
Armed with this proven, golden recipe for rapid fat loss, i turned my attention from myself to others.
Quickly taking the steps to become a personal trainer, within 30 days I was licensed and practicing for one of the World's largest and most respected gym chains. There, I learned that nearly all of my clients joined the gym not in hopes of becoming a body builder, but simply to lose weight, fat in particular. Perfect laboratory for my newly minted diet plan. Instant success stories from all clients, with one client going as far as losing 70 pounds, only fueled my confidence that I was on to something special. Regular folks, from all walks of life, was losing massive amounts of fat under my tutelage.
